Tour Highlights:- Combining Fly fishing with trekking offers a unique adventure, especially in mountainous regions like Himalayas, where pristine alpine lakes and trout-filled streams are accessible by foot and on horseback.Popular, high-altitude treks suitable for this combination include the Kashmir Great Lakes trek ( Vishansar,Krishansar, Gangabal, Sheeshnag) and several other alpine lakes and Streams.
Short Itenaray:-
Day 1:- Arrival in Srinagar airport and transfer to our deluxe houseboat in Dal lake.Afterwards you will be taken for a tour around the lake on a local Shikara boat.All meals will be served on the boathouse.
Day 2:-Today we will head to Sonamarg which is 2 hours drive from Srinagar and at an elevation of 2730 meters above sea level.Upon reaching sonamarg we will start trekking towards Nichnai valley alt 3500 meters Asl.It will be around 7 hours of walking (Horseback can be availed) Covering a distance of 12 kms, 3 hours of steep ascent followed by descent for an hour. Final 2 hours, a gentle ascent to Nichnai campsite.
Day 3:-Nichnai Valley to Vishansar lake via Nichnai Pass which will be the highest point of the trek at 4000 meters above sea level.Ninety minutes of gradual ascent followed by an hour long ascent to the pass. A steep descent from the pass for about an hour easing off into a flat walk to reach the Vishansar lake campsite at 3600 meters.
Day 4:- Vishansar lake valley will be our base for next 3 days to fly fish the whole lake and the stream which flows out from the lake through the meadows with breathtaking scenery on offer. The lake has an abundance of Himalayan brown trout with striking colour patterns and can be caught on dry flies, streamers, nymphs and swinging the old wet fly patterns.The average size is about 2 pounds and the fish can reach 10 to 15 pounds in size being wild and strong.
Day 5:- Whole day to fly fish the Stream of the valley stretching for miles of virgin landscape and most beautiful isolated high country of the himalayas.Fly fishers are often mesmerized and awestruck by the pristine beauty and aura of the other worldly place to fish in.
Day 6:-Another day full of fly fishing exploring the different parts of the lake and Stream trying different fly patterns to land that big wild brown which we can cook for dinner.
Day 7:- Descent to below nichnai valley and camp just above sonamarg.
Day 8:- Descent to Sonamarg and drive back to Srinagar Houseboat.
Day 9:- Departure to Airport.
